5This is a GREAT program
By Aussiebat
I was looking for something beyond Moviemaker with a shorter learning curve than some of the other movie editing software I have read about. I was pleasantly surprised once I opened the box and played with the features. In about an hour I was able to put together a movie, add titles and an intro that really looked professional and then burn it to DVD. Once I sat down and really reviewed the detailed documentation I was even more surprised by all the additional features that came with this package, things like being able to lighten and darken video content, add background music,or zoom in on a clip. My friends have been amazed by the videos I have been able to produce. If you are looking for something that is very user friendly that will allow you to add a professional look to your movie clips and does not require a lot of hair pulling to get to a finished product then this software is money well spent.

Thought I would come back and update my review because a few other seem to have had problems. I am not connected with the company so I don't have a dog in that fight but I have had nothing but great performance with this software. I have been able to zoom in and out on a clip (something my camera could not do), easily edit out sections that didn't add to the story line, raise or lower the volume on a selected clip (and I am still learning all the features), and even set up a YouTube channel (it will directly load to your channel). Not once has it crashed or stalled and I am using a 3 year old Dell computer (but I am using XP not Vista). What I have done is play with the program and fairly quickly it becomes apparent where things are located and if all else fails I return to the manual. Yes, the final burn takes awhile but is a small price to pay when you consider the price of the software. I have become the short subject "go to" person for my friends who think I am a female Steven Spielberg when really it is all the features in the program.

5Great AVCHD & DVD's
By R. Robertson
To cost so little and do all the things it will do is above what I expected. You can do almost anything you can think of to a DVD but, before you make your 1st HD disk it takes you to a site where you buy the AVCHD codex for $9.99 (Your still under $50.00 bucks) then your off. This comes from Germany so it defalts to PAL so watch out that you set it to NTSC. I have a sony s350 BD player that I've had for about 3 years and it plays my AVCHD movies that I have burned onto regular dvd's just fine. I tried sony vegas and it takes a long time to learn but this is so stright forward if you can use Windows Movie Maker you can use this. I am using 64bit Vista, AMD tri core, 4g ram, G force card and HDMI into sony 46" 1080, my movies look great. Regular DVD's hold no more than 30min's of AVCHD at 1080 and it takes my PC about 1 1/2 hours once you start the burn. You get lots of other software with this too, fun stuff to make things for you DVD's and Blu-Ray's. You can burn Blu-Ray disk if your PC has a BD burner. You will be glad you went with this over some of the others, they have a learning curve so steep that you may give up. If your new to AVCHD burning then this is the one for you.

1Good, but could be better
By Sonya
I saw the two reviews posted and had HIGH hopes for this software. I love putting together home movies. I used Vista's Movie Maker and liked how intergrated it was. I thought this was going to be as easy. But, for some reason this software keeps crashing on me or locking up, or even worse deleting my projects that took hours to create. I am not sure what is going wrong.

Although, the software seems easy to use, there is a lot to learn and do. The manual isn't very useful nor is it even clear at times, and the software's website is even worse for help. You have to pay to ask the professionals for help, or just post questions in the online forum where my questions keep getting answered in another language.....if answered at all......

I like that I can create slideshows with pictures and home movies easily through this program with a lot of effort or I can have the software do it for me, with virtually no effort. But, the fact that it keeps crashing makes me wonder how long I am going to keep putting up with this software before I uninstall and look else where for my movie making needs.

My computer is brand new with 2TB of free storage and ram galore. I have not had any issues with my computer or my software previous to this.

I will revise this review IF this software does end up being useful for me. As of now, four stars for the promise this software has, but not even one star if it keeps crasing on me.

UPDATE: Still crashing, though IF I start a project and complete it (and it doesn't crash during the LONG process) I can save and export the project just fine. But, who has the time with 3 kids to sit and complete one whole project?....

Once a project is created, saved for later, then reopened it crashes and doesn't let you open the project again. So, a huge waste of time and money. I didn't want to under rate this software if the issue was that I was doing something wrong, but I have had enough time to play with this software and it stinks. Don't waste your money, on the software's website TONS of people have this issue without a fix or update. On the off chance it works for a project, I love it, but more crashing than completed projects come out of this software..... On to find a BETTER movie making software.... Any suggestions?....
