MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus [Download]

Product Description

The plus version of MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 2013 comes with a variety of extras such as: 99 tracks, more templates, 2D and 3D video editing, multicam editing, travel route animation, advanced audio dubbing (i.e. Dolby Digital 5.1), etc. Developers at MAGIX worked hard at making the new version even faster and more efficient, and they were successful! AVCHD file import has been improved and is now more than 40% faster. Rendering test projects (AVCHD Full HD) with Intel Quick Sync Video, AMD/OpenCL or NVIDIA CUDA for the Apple iPad is now up to twice as fast as in previous version. When activating hardware acceleration, your graphics card will be automatically recognized by the program. Calculating effects directly on the graphic card's GPU is therefore now over 90% faster which represents the biggest speed boost out of all the improvements. The new chromakey engine allows you to create impressive video effects in movie quality. Simply record footage of people or things in front of a plain-colored background and layer new photos or videos on top of it - just like a green/blue screen. As in previous versions, finished projects can be burned to DVD/Blu-ray or shared online (e.g. on YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, etc).

2It would be a great program if it actually worked
By Lisa Schermerhorn
Magix has a wonderful idea. Their program is intuitive and very easy to use. The problem is that NONE of their video editing programs actually work. Magix Movie Edit Pro 2013 was my THIRD attempt to use Magix software. I bought a computer dedicated to video editing and made sure that it met (exceeded actually) the specs that Magix said the computer needed to run the program. Everything went well with the first program until I went to render it. The Magix program would not render it and said I had a memory allocation problem. After several days, and much frustration, I broke down and upgraded my computer thinking that would solve my problems. Well, after a $300.00 upgrade the program still would not work. I discovered, much to my dismay, that in fact it was not my computer, it was the program.

So, I upgraded the program; more money. Again, the program would not consistently render my project. I was not trying to render a 3 hour, video intensive movie. It was a 25 minute program that was about 80% photos and 20% short video clips. I then discovered that Magix Movie Edit Pro 2013 was out. So, I contacted the company and asked a lot of questions; I really do like how easy the program is to use. I was assured that 2013 would work with my computer. Another upgrade and more money.

Well, I have no idea if it does or not. I shoot with two cameras; a Canon 7d and a Pentax WG-II. I shot an event using my Canon 7d mostly for photos, although I did shoot a few short video clips with it, and the Pentax WG-II mostly for video. I loaded my videos from both cameras into the timeline and hit preview. The Canon video was good, the Pentax video would play for about 6 seconds and then get a very high pitched static sound. To say I unhappy was putting it mildly. I went to the Magix forms and tried to get help there. My first post was replied to almost immediately with information on what I needed to do to correct MY errors. I did what was suggested to no avail. I posted all the results of the tests and mentioned that BOTH videos worked in Premier Elements so I know it was not the camera or my computer. That was in October and I still have had NO RESPONSE from Magix.

All I ever wanted was to have one of these programs to work with my equipment. I have done everything Magix said I needed to do for these programs to work and they don't. Their customer support seems to be as lacking as their programs. Too bad because they have a great idea. However, my videos do not get made with great ideas that don't work. I have had to hold my nose and use an Adobe product to make my videos.

5So far so good

So far this product has worked very well, especially for the price. Fair warning, it will eat up a lot of processing/memory so it's a good idea to keep as much as you can closed while using it. You do have to download many of the extra features on a rather slow server, but other than that you can't beat the performance for the price.

5Working with all my camera!
By ULong
I tried this software for about ten days with all kinds of footage I shot with Pana FZ40, LX5, Fuji HS20. It worked well with my old Sony DCR-HC32 MiniDV. It had some issue with Fuji HS20 footage (audio part), but after I contacted MAGIX support and got pretty quick response, I downloaded a patch from their website, everything worked as expected.

I purchased the download version after that. Now it works with my new X920 smoothly with 5.1ch audio. The movie it generated looks good on my 60' Sharp LC-60LE640U. I used Adobe Premiere Pro before, the interface is different, but concept is pretty much the same. I chose this over Adobe Premiere Elements for its price, simplicity and its 5.1ch audio feature. It is pretty straight forward, easy to learn. It works better (faster) with nvidia graphics card since it takes advantage of the onboard memory. So far I'm pretty happy with it, it serves me well for my needs.
